All my photo shoot packages come with high resolution images and 4x6" prints - both for the client to keep. Today, let's focus on the latter. As much as I like digital, there's something about having a print that you can hold and look at without booting up the computer, searching your hard drive for the photo (assuming you've organized your photos in a way that you can find them) and then viewing it. The photograph also looks exactly as the photographer intended, whereas every computer monitor or television renders colors slightly differently. A nice print will also last a 100 years if stored properly whereas computers have hardly been around that long and you're almost guaranteed that in a 100 years either the image format or the underlying storage media will be obsolete. But accessibility and longevity don't speak to the heart of the matter. Nothing beats that wonderful feeling of seeing a photography of your family on your office desk after getting out of a stressful meeting or glancing at your wall at home as you kick up your feet right after the kids fall asleep.
So while a 4x6" print is nice, I'm offering art proofs for free with any package through the end of the year. These beautiful 5x5" prints with a custom black and white border are in the words of one client, "Great to frame!" They actually cost significantly more to produce and print, but so far the feedback has been great. I'll likely have to charge $50 for these in the new year, but am working to see if there is some way to keep the costs down permanently.
