- New Mac Pro (~$3000). Quad processor, 8MB RAM and a couple terabytes of disk space to replace my ailing MacBook Pro. The "e" key doesn't always work and I've resuscitated it multiple times (e.g. fixed the keyboard, replaced the drive and got new batteries). The primary benefit is to expedite my time in Photoshop, make data back up easier with four internal hard drives and sleep better at night knowing that I have a backup computer for this sketchy laptop I'm blogging on.
- Canon L Lenses (~$1000-2000 each). Specifically the 50mm, 85mm or 135mm lenses. I shoot with a Canon 5D and these lens are fast but mostly I like the beautiful bokeh. I most likely would go with the 85mm since I don't have that focal length (I use a 100mm) and portrait work seems to make up a large percentage of my work. The 135mm catches my eye though for indoor sports and the 50mm would get far more use than either of the other two.
- 580 EX II Flashes (~$1200 for three). I currently use a set of Vivatar 285HVs. The primary benefit here is faster recycle times, E-TTL II metering and more power.
- None of the above. Aidan actually took my money and spent it on Star Wars Legos and then celebrated with Zoe with an expensive Sushi dinner.
- All of the above. Break my promise, cash in all my massive gains from my perfectly diversified stock portfolio and spend the kids' non-existent college fund.
So I'm curious what would you do and what do you think I did? On Thursday, I'll let you know and show you some baby photographs using my latest equipment.

I think there should be Option 6: Don't buy anything camera related. Buy your faithful, loving, sweet, hard-working wife something from Tiffany.
Save the money...work with what you have. Be grateful that you have a loving family and market your services...my guess.
