As I was noting in my last few posts - I'm in a dire need of an assistant or better yet a second photographer. The wedding shoot was the final straw. After doing the formal portraits after the ceremony, the bride and groom were whisked off in a golf cart to the reception about a half mile away. All that was left was me (in a wool suit), 50 pounds of equipment and a few tumbleweeds blowing across my feet. So I hauled my tush to try and arrive prior to their grand entrance. All those years of track and field in high school really paid off. It wasn't pretty, in fact it was a bloody, sweaty, mess, but I got the photographs.
So when I kissed my kids good night it dawned on me that I was staring at my future assistants. I decided to give it a try this morning. Zoe chose a 70-200mm lens to shoot Aidan who was all of four feet away. So I've got my work cut out for me or she's a genius who has already developed her own portraiture style. She also has some attitude with respect to me looking over her shoulder to mentor her...
... but, there's six months till my next wedding gig so there is hope for her yet.
