Help Wanted!

Usually this is in regards to wanting a second photographer, but today I need backup with the kids (see twitter feed on the right for the blow by blow). Thankfully, A and S are providing just that tomorrow so I can slip away and attend a wedding rehearsal of Vicky and Stanley. Speaking of twitter, while it has a slight appeal as a means of (one-sided) communication with adults amidst lots of crying, story telling and playing with Legos, the overall allure alludes me. It's like having a baby that requires constant attention and where the, "Aren't you so cute..." or "Gooo goo gaaa" are replaced with your tweets. I'll use is sporadically but definitely prefer blogging and Facebook.

Above: The kids have been absolutely phenomenal. Zoe, for the second night in a row, helped me make dinner while Aidan set the table. I really miss my wife, but not for the reason you may think. She makes our entire family more dynamic. With her around, I'm free to be wild and crazy with the kids. In her absence, my behavior is tempered with the realities of cleaning, cooking and getting the kids to bed. We each excel in certain areas of the household and family and sadly I don't often acknowledge the complete picture till a piece of the puzzle is missing.

As for what to do this weekend - I'm going to get my sanity back.

Technical Photography Note: Photograph taken with the Canon G9 (p&s) 1/125 sec at f/2.8, ISO 200 in manual mode on a timer. I knew the light on Zoe would compliment her but had no idea how the light was falling on me. The camera kept inconsistently overexposing the shot by 3-4 stops so I gave up and just set the shutter and aperture manually. Once that was done, the camera had to be propped just right: first shot too low, second too high and this is the third. Post-processing: A bit of sharpening, a steep curve in the shadows and desaturation of much of the image.
