This Weekend, Find a Carnival

Okay, maybe that isn't realistic, but we found one today. Granted, it was a company picnic, but the kids had a blast. The highlights included a lunch (where I learned that 4 year old girls already have boyfriends), face painting (see below), a jump house (where the kids had to compete with the adults), a pie eating contest (where a little boy was neck and neck with guys three times his size/weight) and carnival games (Aidan won me some prizes).

So if you can't find your own carnival to crash, take advantage of one of the Bay Area's many parks. It should be a beautiful weekend.

Technical Photography Note: 1/200 sec at f/2.8, ISO 100 using my favorite 50mm prime. The photograph is all composition and patience - watching how the professional face painters worked, waiting to use her arm, face and hat to frame the image and capturing that magical moment when Aidan glanced over to see what his father was doing. Add in a two year old in my left arm and socializing/talking with others in line and you have all the makings of a Phat Baby photograph.
