If you've been following this blog at all, you'll know what little free time there is after working, hanging up lights, building furniture for our new place, hanging out with out of town family and chasing my kids has been devoted to the filming of "Zany Zoe", which as it turns out, coincides with Nikon's Film Festival (gonna need your help on that last bit since votes count so stay tuned). So as we wrapped up filming and recording the soundtrack this weekend, my wife took advantage of the lighting setup, grabbed my SLR and started shooting away (literally, she rattled off 24 shots in about a minute, stunning us with an equal number of flashes). Here's a rare photo of my girl and me:

Look for a post on Thursday/Friday with a link to "Zany Zoe - a Day in the Life of a Photographer".
Technical Baby Photography Notes: There are two strobes, one camera left and one camera right. The latter has an umbrella on it to soften the light. Both had a 1/4 CTO gel which warms up our flesh tones a bit since we were turning blue from the cold (that's Bay Area cold, not snow on the sidewalk New York cold). The flashes helped light us up as we were slightly backlit from the sun and helped us pop from the background a bit. The real trick though is in tossing the daughter up into the air about twenty times until your arms burn. Little ones always find this amusing and a fun photo is nearly guaranteed (as long as the camera is pointed in the right direct, right honey?).
BTW: I apologize as the amount of spam and inappropriate comments has reached the point where you'll have to verify an impossibly difficult to read word, to submit your comments. To all you spammers - shame on you.

Excellent shot. Looks very natural.
Great pic to finally have both of you in the same picture. Actually, any pic of you is rare. :)
Also, I have $50 million in retirement funds and I need someone to claim it, gonna see if the jerks in Panama want to help me claim it.
